More May Pictures

Texas is unbelievably hot. The other day, I came back from a conference in Portland, Oregon where the weather was 48°F (8°C) to a "pleasant" 101°F (38°C). Even so, Texas has a particular type of beauty in its "natural" landscapes that I truly appreciate. I was reminded of this when I pulled out of the garage one morning, noticed how beautiful our snapdragons (flowers) are despite my poor placement planning, and realized we had a new addition to our yard - our neighbor's cat. :-) Bella is a regular visitor to our yard and nearly part of the family, but it was cute to see her lounging in the front yard well before 7am.

One of the luxuries of having incredibly warm weather is any day is perfect for swimming or playing in water. We are fortunate enough to have a beautiful shopping center at a nearby lake with large water fountains which are perfect for Rai to run through. (You may recognize this from the adoption.) Although the fountains never came on, we had fun being silly and walking around. And to make it up to Rai, Aaron took him to the pool after we got home.
