More May Pictures

Texas is unbelievably hot. The other day, I came back from a conference in Portland, Oregon where the weather was 48°F (8°C) to a "pleasant" 101°F (38°C). Even so, Texas has a particular type of beauty in its "natural" landscapes that I truly appreciate. I was reminded of this when I pulled out of the garage one morning, noticed how beautiful our snapdragons (flowers) are despite my poor placement planning, and realized we had a new addition to our yard - our neighbor's cat. :-) Bella is a regular visitor to our yard and nearly part of the family, but it was cute to see her lounging in the front yard well before 7am.

One of the luxuries of having incredibly warm weather is any day is perfect for swimming or playing in water. We are fortunate enough to have a beautiful shopping center at a nearby lake with large water fountains which are perfect for Rai to run through. (You may recognize this from the adoption.) Although the fountains never came on, we had fun being silly and walking around. And to make it up to Rai, Aaron took him to the pool after we got home.

Harmonica Lesson 1

Since I don't know how to play the harmonica, this is Rai's one and only harmonica lesson! (Yes, this is my old harmonica I had as a toy.)

Videos and Pictures from May

Unfortunately, it has been over one month since my last post. We are all doing fine, but our schedules have been busy! Here are the updates starting back in May. I will post more soon until I get caught up. (After all, it's almost July!)

Burnside Family Vacation - Turner Falls in Oklahoma
My side of the family hasn't been on a family vacation in years. Last year, my brother and I decided that although our dad requests Cabella's gift cards every year for birthday's and Father's Day, we wanted to take him on a family vacation. Schedules were hectic last year, so we finally organized a three-day trip to Turner Falls in Davis/Sulphur area of Oklahoma. Turner Falls has been a special place in our family history since my grandparents went there for their honeymoon. We had tried to go back many years ago when my grandparents were still alive, but my grandfather couldn't find a parking spot and drove out of the park, despite the fact that we had already paid. :-) Rai certainly had a great time playing "weed eater" around the lakehouse and braving the cold waters at Turner Falls. Here are a few pictures of our trip. I'll post videos soon.

Although I don't have evidence to prove this, I assume they're talking politics. :-)
