I will try to keep this blog short but picture heavy. We scaled down our agenda to two things today: 1) Visit Suwon's Hangook Miseonkcheon (Folk Village) and 2) Meet up with Kim (San Antonio soon-to-be adoptive mom or "adoptee mommy" from Holt BB) for dinner.
Suwon's Hangook Miseonkcheon (Folk Village)
We saved this sight-seeing trip for today primarily because of its distance from the other sights. Suwon is an hour subway ride from our hotel (longer if you get lost as we did), and there is a 40-minute shuttle from Suwon station to the folk village. After getting turned around at a few subway stations, we finally arrived in time for the last two shows (equstrian and martial arts). Unfortunately, I wasn't tall enough to see over the crowd in front of us during the equestrian show, but we did have excellent seats for the martial arts.
We spent a few short hours at the tourist village, but I certainly wish we had an entire day. We only managed to cover about half of the village and sped through the Korean Folk Museum very quickly. For lunch, we tried a few traditional dishes at the village (per the recommendation in Frommer's Guide to South Korea) and loved the food! It wasn't until the end of our short time there, however, that we noticed the amusement park for children. The sight of children playing traditional games and running around with many well-advertised toys from the gift shop reminded us that we had less than 24 hours until our meeting with Rai. We definitely need to come back with him ... next time.
Dinner with a Fellow Texan!
Aaron and I met Kim this evening and did our best to show her around, now that we are experienced tourists here in Seoul. haha I mentioned that Aaron and I hadn't found a Korean BBQ place yet, so we browsed the outdoor menu at Bulgogi Brothers. It must be a little more upscale than we expected since the family style meal for three was nearly 80,000 won (~$60). This wouldn't be as much of shock if we hadn't paid so little on food the last two days. Luckily, we turned the corner and found a very inexpensive bulgogi place (~$7 for 2 ppl) with great food. We commented that we can hardly believe that tomorrow is the big day to meet our little ones. It has been such a busy two days that Monday is quickly sneaking up on me. With that said, I will end this blog entry for the night and plan to post more info and pictures tomorrow.
Take care and good night!
